Golden Century (GC) is one of the must eat places we recommend to friends and family visiting Sydney. Even though GC is pricey I find they make up for this in the quality and taste of its dishes. However, be prepared to wait in line for 30 mins or more even with a booking as they are packed full every night. Oh, the other good thing is they stay open till 4 in the morning! It brings back memories of stumbling into GC at 3am after a night out on the town.
During the last 4 weeks, we were fortunate enough to dine at GC 3 times. We had plenty of visitors thus the frequency of our visits. The below review is the accumulation of all we’ve eaten during the 3 visits.
Once we were done with the sashimi, they took the rest of the lobster back to the kitchen and cooked it with ginger and shallot. We also asked for noodles to be added to the dish which set us back an additional $8. Yummy yummy. Lobster tastes so much better then crab because you can get more meat out of it and therefore able to taste more of its flesh which is sweet and succulent.
Mud crab cooked in ginger and shallot with noodles. As you can tell, our favourite style of cooking lobsters and crab is with ginger and shallot. Yummy too as the mud crab was so fresh. The noodles go really well with this style as well as they soak up all the tasty gravy from the ginger and shallot.
Pork spare ribs in Peking sauce. I didn't see much spare ribs in the dish though, more like fatty bits of pork (if that makes sense). The sauce was just the right combination of sweet and sour, enticing you back for more.
Tried this dish for the first time. This dish is really tasty. The tofu is really smooth and I think they also add mince prawns and egg together with the tofu. Tasty!
We also have a number of dishes which I don't have pics for. Everyone just digged in without waiting for me to snap my pics. :(
Steam barramundi - One of my favourites.
Stirfry asparagus with prawns - delicious.
Crispy skin chicken --- found the chicken slightly dry but still tasty.
